Tips for Designing Professional Business Cards

1. Add a great image or two.

Many of our business card templates were designed to accommodate images without overcrowding the design or making the card look too busy. When adding an image or two to your card, make sure to choose an image or two that represent your brand. Often these images will directly represent your business such as a set of headphones for a DJ, a business logoOpens a new window or your picture. Images should help convey the personality of your business so make sure to utilize both sides of your cards to maximize your creativity.

2. Utilize white space.

Another factor to think about is the amount of white (or negative) space on your business card. Leaving areas blank draws the viewer’s eye to the parts of the card that do have information. To achieve the right balance, only include the most important and relevant information and images. Potential clients should be able to easily find your name, the business name, and a phone number and/or email address on the card. We usually call blank space "white space", but with entertainment business cards, there’s more freedom to use a color other than white as a background color.

3. Choose a finish that accentuates your design.

Matte vs glossy can be a difficult choice but we are here to help! Both options are offered in Premium and Ultra Premium card stock (our thickest paper) so quality and thickness should not play a part in your decision. Although both options are great, the matte finish is usually better for lighter colored cards that do not have photographs. On the other hand, graphic images and logosOpens a new window tend to look great on matte finish cards. If your card is a dark color or it has high resolution pictures, a glossy finish is ideal. Still unsure? Order both and see which you prefer!
